(NEW FRONTIER NEWS)- The article in question starts with the concept that psychiatric disorders are not medical diseases.

The article states that there are no lab tests, brain scans, X-rays, or chemical imbalance tests that can verify any mental disorder is a physical condition.”

This blatantly ignores research done on most mental disorders.

For example, Natasha Tracy’s article Biological Evidence for Depression-Mental illness exists goes over many physical proofs for mental illnesses, but I will name only a few here.

One of these is the genetic factors that increase depression.

There is also the issue of increased cortisol which shows high rates of depression.

Brain scans can also see the effects of depression, as brain volume increases with the lasting of depressive symptoms.

This is only covering depression and is a small sampling of how psychiatry tests for mental issues.

What would the authors say about somatic symptoms, which according to the American Psychiatric Association, cannot be a disorder until the patient actually feels like they are ill, and have some kind of illness?

The article then goes on to say that mental illness is a ploy to get money and that people can feel duress, but it is not an illness.

The evidence I’ve provided about depression is only one disorder out of the many that not only have scientific research to back them up but also has physical proof for most of them as well.

The rest of the article is done in quotes from other doctors of Psychology.

David Kaiser is the first one quoted, and the quotes used paints, Dr. Kaiser, as if he is against psychological illnesses.

The problem is he makes it clear that people can get mental illnesses unlike the paper is implying.

The main point of this quote is to show that mental health should not be only treated with medicines like some people do.

The next doctor (Dr. Leifer) quoted is a man known for books that discredit psychology and works with a company that makes movies that describe mental illness as fake.

The third doctor on this list says that ADHD is not really due to not finding any evidence it is a real disorder.

Unfortunately for him, ABC reported proof of ADHD that showed that dopamine imbalances in the brain prove ADHD to be real.

They then quote Kaiser again, which comes from the same article I mentioned earlier.

On the next doctor Joseph Glenmullen, I could not find the quote provided anywhere except to anti psychiatric sites.

This marks a red flag on its reliability.

Dr. Elliot Valenstein is another doctor that talks about over medicating and is not against psychology.

Dr. Thomas Szasz works with Dr. Leifer, which means he also makes documentaries about mental illness being false.

The next doctor is also one that denies ADHD, which has been proven to exist before.

Bruce Levine’s quote is entirely false and has been proven to be false in the fact that mental disorders exist and have a real basis in biology.
